Understanding the profound connection between behavioral health and substance recovery is at the heart of what we do at Porch Light Health. Now operating in Colorado and New Mexico, our approach acknowledges that achieving lasting recovery from opioids, alcohol, or any substance abuse demands a comprehensive strategy addressing the mental and physical aspects of well-being.

What is Behavioral Health?

Behavioral health is the study and treatment of an individual's mental and emotional well-being, encompassing a broad range of services for mental illnesses, substance misuse, and more. It recognizes the powerful interplay between our behaviors, emotions, and overall health.

Components of Behavioral Health

  • Mental Health: This pertains to cognitive and emotional well-being. It's how people perceive the world, make decisions, and handle stress. Common mental health disorders include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
  • Substance Use and Addiction: This covers the misuse of alcohol, drugs, and other substances and how they affect mental and physical health. It explores why some individuals become dependent while others do not and offers treatment pathways.
  • Emotional Well-being: This is about understanding, expressing, and managing our feelings, whether positive (like happiness or love) or negative (like anger or sadness).
  • Preventative Services: Encouraging practices and behaviors to prevent or reduce the risk of developing behavioral health issues. These methods may include stress management techniques, substance misuse education, and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.

Importance of Behavioral Health

Studies highlight the importance of behavioral health in connection to our physical health, quality of life, and longevity. Addressing and managing behavioral health concerns can lead to:
  • Improved mood and emotional well-being.
  • Better physical health and reduced risk for chronic diseases.
  • Improved relationships with others.
  • Greater life satisfaction and purpose.
If you or someone you know is struggling with a behavioral health issue, contact Porch Light Health at 866-394-6123. Many treatments can offer relief and a path to a healthier, happier life.

Behavioral Health Services at Porch Light Health

In March 2018, Porch Light Health and Front Range Clinic were recognized and validated for providing unparalleled behavioral health services when the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration granted licensure to our clinics in Greeley and Fort Collins. It marked the beginning of a new era in outpatient behavioral health services in the region.

Today, our commitment has only grown, with a clinic network that spans over 60 strategically located points of care across Colorado. Moreover, in an age of digitalization, we proudly offer virtual/telehealth services, making quality care accessible to everyone within the state.

  • A comfortable environment: Both our in-person clinics and telehealth services are designed to make you feel safe, understood, and at ease.
  • Accessibility: Recognizing the busy schedules our clients maintain, we've designed our sessions to offer flexibility, with options available throughout the day, including evening groups for those who prefer a later slot.
  • Specialized team: Our team, consisting of licensed counselors, peer specialists, and other professionals, collaborates to offer comprehensive care. Each member adds a unique touch, making our treatment approach rich and multi-faceted.
  • Thorough Assessment: We begin with an in-depth biopsychosocial ASAM-accredited evaluation to understand your needs holistically. These assessments help us curate a treatment plan that's just right for you.
  • Medication assessment: Our Behavioral team works in concert with our medical providers. Our team can include the medical team to evaluate you for appropriate medication options to support your recovery when needed.
  • Integrated medical services: Integration is vital to our approach. Our clinic case managers seamlessly collaborate with the medical team at Porch Light Health, ensuring clients receive continuous care from the moment they step into our facility.
  • Case Management: Case Management capacity can provide you with regional and local resources for primary necessities in order to be successful, for example, food, shelter, jobs, etc.

By offering a range of services, from brief interventions and referrals to follow-up appointments and screenings, we aim to nurture an environment where clients remain engaged and motivated throughout their recovery journey. This unity between our behavioral health team and medical staff sets us apart, solidifying our position as a leading name in Colorado behavioral health.

Group Counseling

At Porch Light Health, we're not just a treatment center but a community. Whether group therapy sessions or one-on-one counseling, our licensed professionals offer tailored programs that meet individual needs.

Porch Light Health emphasizes the transformative power of group counseling. Our approach:

  • Virtual Sessions: Embracing modern connectivity, we conduct most group sessions online, ensuring you can join from the comfort of your space.
  • CRAFT Groups: These specialized sessions provide a haven for families and friends of those dealing with substance use disorders. Here's what sets them apart:
    • Small Groups: With 6 to 10 participants, these groups maintain an intimate atmosphere, fostering deep connections and genuine support.
    • Structured Curriculum: Over 12 weeks, our program addresses critical aspects of recovery. Topics range from understanding co-occurring disorders and the benefits of cognitive behavioral therapy to mastering relapse prevention and the calming effects of meditation.
  • Holistic Knowledge: In collaboration with therapeutic practices, we educate our participants about relevant medications, emphasizing a holistic approach to healing.
  • Community Building: At its core, our group therapy is about more than recovery. It's about forging bonds of understanding and progressing together, celebrating each step towards empowerment.
  • Resources: We can also formulate a comprehensive resource packet for group therapy sessions that can be through NA or AA meetings, or through IOP programs across the state.

Our comprehensive, structured curriculum ensures participants gain therapeutic insights and holistic knowledge, providing them with the tools for a sustained recovery. We create a nurturing environment beyond therapy by leveraging modern technology and offering specialized programs.

Numerous studies underscore the efficacy of peer recovery support, highlighting benefits such as reduced relapse rates, prolonged engagement in treatment, enhanced relationships with treatment teams, and heightened overall satisfaction with the recovery process. At Porch Light Health, we're proud to have peer support specialists on board. These individuals, having navigated their personal addiction challenges and being on an active path of recovery, possess a unique depth of understanding and empathy.

Their experiences stand as a testament to the possibility of recovery, reinforcing the belief that no one has to face their journey alone.
